Dental implants

When you want to replace teeth that have gone missing with a permanent solution, dental implants may be the right option for you. Implants are artificial roots and teeth, usually made of titanium, that are placed into the upper or lower jaw bone through surgery. Teeth installed this way are natural looking and can enhance or restore your smile. They are strong, stable, and will last many years with good hygiene and care. When you want dental implants, we will work with you over several months, starting with x-rays and impressions and finishing with beautiful, functional artificial teeth that feel like your own. We will provide you with referral for an excellent implantologist to place the implants.

Composite fillings

A composite filling is a tooth-colored filling that is meant to repair a tooth affected by cracks, fractures, or decay. If there is a decayed portion of the tooth, it will be removed before filling. We have many different filling materials available, and each has its own advantages and disadvantages. Composite fillings are most well suited to visible teeth. They are not permanent and may someday have to be replaced, though they are quite durable. There are several reasons you might want a composite filling, including:
  • Chipped teeth
  • Closing space between two teeth
  • Cracked or broken teeth
  • Decayed teeth
  • Worn teeth
During a single appointment, we will numb your tooth and remove any decay. Next, we will clean the space and prepare it for the new filling. We then place it, shape it, and polish it. You may experience some sensitivity to hot and cold following the placement of a composite filling, but this will subside quickly. Be sure to follow all care instructions and practice good oral hygiene.

Porcelain crowns (caps)

When we use a crown or cap, we're using a covering that encases an entire tooth to restore it to its original size and shape. This crown both protects and strengthens the tooth structure that cannot be restored in any other way. Porcelain crowns are the most popular due to their resemblance to natural teth. They last for many years and are quite durable. Some reasons you may need a crown include:
  • Broken or fractured teeth
  • Cosmetic enhancement
  • Decayed teeth
  • Fractured fillings
  • Large fillings
  • Tooth has a root canal
Two appointments are generally required for a crown. In the first appointment, we will take highly accurate impressions to create your custom crown. We will then create a temporary crown, which will stay on your tooth for about two weeks while you wait for your permanent crown.

Porcelain fixed bridges

When you have missing teeth, we can create a fixed appliance called a dental bridge to replace them. We'll discuss your potions with you, but the most popular type of bridge is the traditional bridge, made of porcelain fused with metal. This consists of two crowns that go over two anchoring teeth and are attached to artificial teeth. There are several reasons you may want a fixed bridge:
  • Fill space of missing teeth
  • Maintain facial shape
  • Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position
  • Restore chewing and speaking ability
  • Restore your smile
  • Upgrade from a removable partial denture to a permanent dental appliance
When you get a bridge, it generally takes two or more visits. We remove a portion of enamel from two anchoring teeth to allow for crowns then make an impression that will be sent to our laboratory for creation of the bridge. We will give you a temporary bridge to last until your next appointment.

Porcelain veneers

To create a beautiful and attractive smile, we offer veneers, very thin pieces of durable, tooth-shaped porcelain custom made for shape and color in our dental laboratory. They completely reshape your teeth and smile. They're alternatives to crowns and may be ideal in many situations. Reasons you may want to opt for veneers include:
  • Cosmetically, to create a uniform, white, beautiful smile
  • Crooked teeth
  • Misshapen teeth
  • Severely discolored or stained teeth
  • Teeth that are too small or large
  • Unwanted or uneven spaces
  • Worn or chipped teeth
Generally, you need to allow for two visits to our office to complete the veneer process. We use little to no anesthesia during the procedure. We'll lightly buff and shape the surface of your teeth to allow the veneer's thickness to fit over them. Then, we make a mold of your teeth before choosing a shade. At the second visit, we'll cleanse your teeth to prep them for bonding cement. We then finish the process by using a special light beam to harden the bond. Be sure to follow the home care instructions we provide you with to extend the longevity and durability of your veneers.

Teeth whitening

We use a non-invasive dental treatment, teeth whitening (or bleaching), to change the color of your natural tooth enamel to enhance the beauty of your smile. There are a number of ways to whiten your teeth, and while using a home teeth-whitening system will create a dramatic effect, it's important to have a dentist evaluate your existing fillings, crowns, etc. to see whether they need to be replaced. You may need a touch up every several years, and more often if you smoke or drink coffee, tea, or wine. Reasons for teeth whitening include:
  • Fluorosis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).
  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.
  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

You need to allow for two visits for teeth whitening. At the first appointment, we will make impressions to create clear plastic trays. At the second appointment, we will have you wear the trays with our special whitening solution twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks. You can expect to experience tooth sensitivity that will stop after you have stopped the bleaching process.
